Samuel L. Levy, born at Hellimer, France, on 13 May 1840, the son of Solomon Levy and Emélie (Kahn) Levy, died at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Washington, on 31 December 1917. His wife, the former Frances L. "Fannie" Kornegay, whom he married in Sumter County, Alabama, in 1866, and their son, George Levy, both of Olympia, survived him.
Rev. R. Franklin Hart officiated at services held "from the Jesse T. Mills chapel" on Wednesday, 2 January 1918. Interment, under the direction of Jesse T. Mills, was at the Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Levy was for many years a resident of St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, where he worked as a clerk, a retail merchant, and a sugar planter. For the eighteen months prior to his death he had resided with his son, George, in Olympia.
