Craig A. Guernsey of Paoli died Saturday, April 3, 2004. He was 53. Craig was born November 3, 1950 at Holyoke, the first born of Donald and Betty (Milholland) Guernsey.

Craig grew up in the Denver Metropolitan area. He joined the Navy Reserve in 1968 while still attending high school Upon graduation from Adams City Senior High, he went to active duty. Craig remained in the Navy until his retirement in 1994.

During Craig's tenure in the Navy he traveled the world crossing the equator many times and visiting many ports in the Atlantic, Pacific and the Mediterranean. He knew the risks of joining the service during the Vietnam era, yet felt it was his duty.

He continued to serve even through the 1991 Desert Storm in Iraq, where he was stationed in Kuwait providing support from the tender ship USS McKee.

Upon retirement Craig made his home in Paoli, where he could be close to his family. He became active in the local VFW and American Legion, most recently serving as District Commander. He enjoyed any activity that enabled him to spend time with his friends and family.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Donald D. Guernsey.

Craig is survived by three sons Charles A. Guernsey and wife Becky of Sterling, Robert D. Guernsey of Commerce City and Henry J. Guernsey of Alamogordo, New Mexico; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Jim McBee of Paoli; brother Ronald D. Guernsey and wife Marsha of Highlands Ranch; sister Janet Jubenville and husband Peter of Thornton; brother Jeffrey D. Guernsey and wife Kim of Haxtun; stepbrother and stepsisters Scott McBee and wife Julie of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Sherry and husband Steve Kitzman of Thornton, Carol Cline of Thornton, and Deanna McBee of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Cierra, Lyle, Ricky, Joseph and Rachal; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Holyoke. Interment will follow at the Paoli Cemetery.
