ALBERTO GOMEZ DUARTE

VAN HORN, TEXAS--Services for Alberto Gomez Duarte, 71, will be at 2 p.m. today at our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Van Horn Cemetery.

Mr. Duarte died Thursday, July 9, 1998, in an El Paso hospital.

Van Horn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born May 17, 1927, in Carlsbad to Jose and Sabina Duarte. He grew up in Carlsbad and farmed. He married Vicenta Baeza on Jan. 22, 1970, in Ojinaga, Mexico.

In 1976, they moved to Van Horn where he contined to farm and mine. In 1984, he began working for the Van Horn Funeral Home and continued until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Vicenta of the home; sons, Jose Duarte of Van Horn, Albert Duarte Jr. and Sam Duarte, both of Carlsbad; Raymondo and Reynaldo Duarte, both of Roswell and Danny Duarte of Albuquerque; daughters, Sylvia Duarte of Van Horn, Maria Elena Duarte of Roswell, Angelica Varela, Romelia Hernandez and Christina Ramirez, all of Carlsbad; 33 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Petersen, Ismael Duarte, Raul Rubio, Arturo Gonzalez Jr., Ramon Garcia and Atanacio Baeza.
