Ralph R Cranmer, 94 of 1600 Whitman Street Williamsport, died Tuesday Nov 11 2003 at his home.

The recipient of numerous civic and professional awards, he retired as president and general manager of the former GRIT publishing company and as director of the Pennsylvania Power and Electric Company.
A 1932 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he had been employed as a engineer at Lycoming Motors prior to his 35 years at Grit. He retired in 1974.
Mr. Cranmer was a member of the Grit Retirees Club, the Williamsport County Club, Ross club, the Antlers Country Club, Wheel Inn and the Penn State Club. He was a director of the Williamsport Chapter of the Christian Businessmen's Committee. He was a charter member of the Dietrich Lamade Lodge 755 F & AM and a member of the Williamsport Consistory. His interests were primarily in machine design, automobiles and one of the last privately owned golf carts, from the Williamsport Country Club known as Tizzie which he kept in operating condition for more than 32 years. Born in Iselin he was the son of Dr. Carl B & Estelle (McGee) Cranmer. He is survived by his nephews Carl B Cranmer III of West Chester and William Durbin Jr of Bellevue Washington and nieces Carol Durbin Candler of Chapel Hill NC and Constance Cranmer Ward of Concord NC. He was preceded in death by two wives, Ruth Williams Lynch and Ann Elizabeth McCarthy, a brother Carl B Cranmer Jr, and a sister Josephine Durbin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at his church, St. Boniface Catholic Church 326 Washington Blvd, at 10:00AM Saturday, with Monsignor Stephen D McGough officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street from 6 to 8PM on Friday. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:45PM. The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions to be given to The visitation Church Building Fund,1614 W Southern Avenue South Williamsport Pa 17702 or to the Divine Providence Foundation, Sister Emilene Endowment Fund 1100 Grampian Blvd Williamsport Pa 17701.
