Elsie K. Hogoboom, 99, of Coldwater passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Laurels of Coldwater. She was born March 6, 1913 in Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of George and Anna Hoppert. On October 15, 1931 Elsie was united in marriage to Lewis C. Hogoboom in Monroe. He preceded her in death August of 1984.
Elsie is survived by her two daughters; Mary (Bob) Temples of Coldwater, Jean (Bob) Fox of Madison, WI; grandchildren; Jill Phillips, John Fox, Sarah Temples, Katheryn Stoia, Dustin Temples, Stephanie Fox , Ryan Temples, brother; George Hoppert and sister; Marian Kull. She was preceded in death by her husband; Lewis, brother; Elmer, sisters; Alice, Ella, Irma, granddaughter; Ruth Temples and great grandson; Matthew Avis.
Elsie moved to Coldwater to the Miller's Lake area shortly after her marriage in 1931 and she had been a lifelong Coldwater resident since then, spending the last few years at Masonville Assisted Living facility. She retired from Federal Mogul Corporation, was a Centennial Ladies Aide, and a longtime member of the Batavia Baptist Church. More than anything else, Elsie enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardening, frequently distributing the produce thereof to her neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Philip Lindner officiating. Interment will follow at the Matteson Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Batavia Baptist Church or the H.C. Burnside Center.
