Rites Held For Jefferson Bray

Services for Jefferson Webster Bray, well known retired farmer, dairyman and cattle raiser of the New Hope area were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Barry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Bryant, pastor of Van Vleet Baptist Church, and the Rev. James Henry, Baptist Minister of Pontotoc officiating.

Harold Stevens sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Precious Memories." Mrs. Fred McGehee was his accompainst.

Burial was in Lee Memorial Park and pallbearers were six of Mr. Bray's grandsons, Joe Hugh Thomas, Harry Thomas, Earl Thomas and Jeff Bray of Alvin, Texas, C. R. Easley of Houlka and Jimmy Bray of Houston.

Mr. Bray, who was 73, died about 6 o'clock Friday morning at Okolona Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was a lifelong reident of the New Hope Community and was a member of the Van Vleet Baptist Church.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Velma Tutor Bray;two sons, Clayton of Alvin, Texas, and James of Okolona; two daughters, Mrs. Hugh Thomas of Alvin, Texas, and Mrs. Clifton Easley of Houlka; a brother, Elzy Bray of Ecru; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Collum of Bruce, Mrs. John Prewett of Pontotoc, Mrs. A. B. Prewett of Okolona, Mrs. Roan Hood of Bruce and Mrs. Dewey Hood of Houlka; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
