Born 1 May 1899 in Glamorgan, Cardiff, Wales, 22 year old Miss Edith May Williams, known as May, traveled to America with her 18 year old brother William John "Bill" Williams. Their baby sister Emily Alice Williams died at 6 months in 1901. Their Mother, Ada Paulynn Hobbs Williams passed away in 1904 and their father, William Henry Williams in 1910. They were living with family in England and Great "Uncle Dave" Williams in Rosedale, Wyandotte, KS sent passage for them to come and live with him and his family in America.

They left Southampton, England on the SS Adriatic 21 Sep 1921, traveled to Cherbourg, France to exchange passengers and then on to Ellis Island, New York, USA, arriving on 30 Sep 1921, a 9 day voyage. May was listed as a "domestic", and Bill, a "blacksmith", possibly an apprentice.

May and Frank Elmer Higgins married on 30 Jun 1926 in Kansas City, Jackson, MO and together they raised a daughter and 3 sons. They were wonderful parents, grandparents, great grandparents, neighbors and citizens. They shared 41 wonderful years together.

Their children were Pauline May "Birdie" Eaton-Higgins Rousseau, William Frank "Bill" Higgins, John Elmer Higgins, and David Eugene "Dave" Higgins.

May became a naturalized United States citizen. Although May never learned to drive, she was a resident bowling instructor for AJBC at Raytown Bowl for 11 years. She was a member of the 600 Club and served as Sgt-at-Arms, Vice President and President of the Greater Kansas City WBA. She also served as a Director on the KC WBA Board. She was the 1st Member Emeritus of the Greater Kansas City Woman's Bowling Association. In 1997 she was inducted into the Greater Kansas City Missouri USBC Association Hall of Fame.

She has bowled since 1942, participated in 33 WIBC Tournaments, 33 Missouri State Tournaments, and every City Tournament since 1942. She was sponsored by McGilley Midtown Chapel for 42 years.

May was a Gray Lady at St. Joseph Hospital for 18 years and a volunteer at the Kansas City Veteran's Hospital for 4 years. May's husband Frank played Santa for the kids of Raytown, MO and the surrounding Kansas City area for many years, with Christmas displays on their Raytown property, and visits to area hospitals. She made all of Frank's Santa Claus costumes.

May was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Elmer Higgins in 1967, her parents William Henry Williams and Ada Paulynn Hobbs Williams, her baby sister Emily Alice Williams, her Grandfather, William John "John" Williams in 1924, his brother, Great Uncle David James "Uncle Dave" Williams in 1937, and her sweet Alice Maud "Aunt Alice" Williams in 1950. Uncle Dave and Aunt Alice took May and brother Bill under their wings in America, and were sorely missed!

In addition to her children, May left behind 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and her original traveling companion, her brother, Bill Williams, of Las Vegas, NV.

Services were provided by the McGilley Midtown Chapel, May's 42-year bowling sponsor. She was buried next to her dear husband Frank on 20 Feb 1990 in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
