Spensley Hutchinson was born in Yorkshire England, Oct. 15, 1839, and passed away very suddenly of apoplexy at a sanitarium in Monroe May 10, 1918, being 78 years, 5 months and 5 days old. News of Mr. Hutchinson's death came as a great shock to the community as well as relatives.
In 1848 his family came to the United States settling at Dubuque, Ia., where his mother died in 1851. A few years later on they moved to Shullsburg.
In early manhood he went to the mountains and travelled through Idaho, Colorado, California, Montana and many other states; finally settling in Shullsburg, Wis., where he lived until two years ago when ill health caused him to enter a sanitarium for treatment.
He leaves one brother Chris Hutchinson of Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Margaret Thomas of Lodi, Wis., Mrs. Elizabeth Mullen of Shullsburg, Wis., Mrs. Ruth Day of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Jane Harker of Dubuque, Iowa.
