Leona Arvilla (Anderson) Bemis died January 6, 2001 at the Princeton Elim Home at the age of 94.
She was born October 3, 1906 in Isanti County to Fred E and Ellen (Anderson) Anderson. She graduated from Cambridge High School and St. Cloud Teachers College and then taught school for three years in Mille Lacs and Isanti counties. She married Alex Bemis on June 9, 1929, and they farmed for several years in Mille Lacs County. In 1942, they moved to Champlin and she worked at Bergstrom Brothers' Implement. She worked for Heinen-Mason, Inc for 21 years until retiring. From 1972-1985 she raised and sold raspberries. Her husband, Alex, died in 1984.
She was a member of the Champlin Senior Citizens. Survivors include her brother, Lyle Anderson of Princeton and her sister Luella Engquist of Mounds View. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex; an infant son, Gerald; brothers, Stanley and Gilbert; sisters, Bernice Lemke, Violet Manke and LaVern Wilson.
The funeral was Wednesday January 10, at Williams-Hanson Kaun Funeral Chapel with Gaylen Van Loon and Tim Sererud officiating. Music was by Debbie Covelin, Sherri Clausen and Ella Boyd.
Casket Bearers were Gary, Rodger and Richard Anderson, Ken Engquist and Richard Anderson. Burial was at Milo Cemetery in Milo Township, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota
