The funeral for Derek Wilson, 24, of Cherokee will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Ed Jones and Brian Warfield, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cem-etery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Viewing will be 1 to 7 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1983, in Kiowa, Kan., to R.L. and Vickie Price Wilson and died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in Kiowa from injuries received in an automobile-train accident.
He attended school in Cherokee and graduated in 2003. He worked for area farmers and enjoyed going on harvest. He was working for his father and for Siler Farms.
Surviving are his parents, R.L. and Vickie Wilson of Cherokee; one brother, Daniel Wilson of Sylvia, Kan.; two sisters, Lesley Rice of Cherokee and Kyla Gibson of Nash; and his grandmother, Lenora Price of Cherokee.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents.
