Mr. Shulman was the son of Stephen SHULMAN and Sandra STILL. He graduated from Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia, before earning a B.A. in philosophy from University of Virginia in 1982. He completed his M.B.A. at Columbia University in 1988. He worked for the State Department as a program manager before becoming director of commercial property finance at Ciena Capital (2003 to 2009). At the time of his death, he was acting director for real estate gifts for the NRA Foundation and a member of Virginia Hospital Center's Legacy Planning Committee.
