He was a resident of California for 35 years and of Tuolumne County for 22 years. Much of his time was spent gold mining, and he was a member of the Sierra Mineral and Gem Society of Tuolumne County.
He was survived by his widow, Marjorie Peters of Sonora; three daughters, Mrs. Fern Wooley of Illinois, Mrs. Ruth Habel of Stockton, and Mrs. Jean Fuller of Ukiah; two sons, Earl Peters of Illinois, and Marshall Miles of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister and three brothers.
