William Edward Bandy age 82 of Cedar Bluff, VA died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. He was born October 7, 1930 at Richlands, VA and was a son of the late Rex William and Ethel Hoops Bandy. Mr. Bandy was a 1949 Graduate of Richlands High School and was a retired Brakeman, having worked for over thirty-eight years with Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bandy was a faithful member of the Raven Assembly of God at Raven, VA. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong resident of Tazewell County, VA and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kelly, Benny, and Barry Bandy; one brother-in-law, Carl Honaker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Evelyn Rimmer Bandy; one son, David William Bandy and wife, Melissa Lynn of Baptist Valley, VA; two sisters, Jean Bales and husband, Larry of Kingsport, TN and Gay Honaker of North Tazewell, VA; one brother, Bob Bandy and wife, Jeanette of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Holly and Haley Bandy; two sisters-in-law, Paula Bandy and Margie Bandy; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for William Edward Bandy will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Raven Assembly of God in Raven, VA with the Rev. Chester Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Mike Honaker, Marty Honaker, Jeff Bales, Jessee Bales, Matt Simmons and John Simmons.
The family will receive friends at the Raven Assembly of God Church after 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, January 21, 2013.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 in Richlands, VA.
