Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at 11:00AM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Elvidge Rita Crochet, 87, a native of Avoca Island and longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 6:34 AM at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services.

Rita loved the outdoors and spending time at the camp. She could often be found sitting on her wharf on the Franklin Canal, most of the time with multiple fishing poles. She also enjoyed cooking and building birdhouses. Many also knew her as the little lady who made and sold crawfish and crab nets. She also loved her family, helping to care for many of her siblings until she couldn't due to health reasons. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her two sons, Eugene Rouly and his wife Shirley "Chris" Thibodeaux Rouly, and Dennis Rivette, Jr. and his wife Lisette delaHoussaye Rivette, all of Franklin; one granddaughter, Christi Rouly of Portland, OR; three brothers, Elie Crochet and his wife Edmae, Paul Crochet and his wife Audrey, and Herman Crochet; and three sisters, Annie Mae Breaux, Mary Theriot and her husband, Alvoid, and Elizabeth "Beth" Younger and her husband Floyd; two step grandsons, Blake Foster and his fiancé Babette Moreau, and Cody Foster and his wife Jerica; one step great grandson, Landon Foster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Freddy Rouly; her 2nd husband, Dennis Rivette, Sr.; four brothers, Emmette Joseph Crochet, Sr., Murphy E. Crochet, Sr., Edward J. Crochet, Sr., and Gilbert "Mickey" Crochet; one sister, Shirley Crochet Migues; and her parents, Gilbert Crochet, Sr. and Elizabeth Dupuis Crochet.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The mortuary will reopen Tuesday at 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM.
