ABELL-NALLEY, DOROTHY ELIZABETH, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 10, 1920. Dorothy retired from Stewart's Department Store after 20 years of service. Dorothy was a good and loving mother. She was a good hearted and generous person. She never met a stranger. She was a wonderful cook who loved to feed people. She called her kitchen "Dot's Diner". The family would like to thank Highlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of our mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Gertrude Mattingly; her first husband, Joseph Isadore Abell; her son, James Michael Abell; her sisters, Stella Wimsett and Celeste Gertrude Mattingly; and her brother, Paul Mattingly. Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Linda Scott (Joe) of Evansville, IN; two sons, Joseph Ronald Abell and Gary L. Abell (Zeita) of Louisville, KY; one sister, Velma Spalding of Bardstown, KY. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Joanne Massey, Michael Scott, Susan Lattner, Beth Harmon, Tina Michelle Hardeson, Jennifer Abell and Lisa Streck. Her funeral service will be noon on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison at Barret Avenue with burial to follow at St. Augustine Church Cemetery in Lebanon, KY. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
