James "Jim" Blalock

James "Jim" Alfred Blalock, 60, of Quapaw, Oklahoma passed away at his home surrounded by his family, friends and loved ones.

He was born on July 5, 1952 in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Charles Edward Blalock and Sally (Tyner).

He graduated from Quapaw High School in 1970.

He worked as Grounds Maintenance for Peoria Ridge Golf Course.

He lived in the area all his life and loved to fish, hunt and the outdoors.

He enjoyed watching Professional Bull Riding, as he was a bull rider at a young age.

He was a member of the Peoria and Shawnee Tribes and took part of the Native American Church.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He married Sharon (Shapp) on June 8, 1991 in Picher, Oklahoma she survives of the home.

His parents precede him in death.

He is survived by one son James "Shug" Alfred Blalock Jr. of Lawrence, KS, four daughters Michelle Bowden of Miami, OK, Janelle Elaine Blalock of Lawrence, KS, Callie Darr and husband Randy of Miami, OK, and Josie Alene Edens and husband Dusten of Quapaw, OK.

He is also survived by four brothers William Charles Blaylock and wife Beth of Miami, OK, Aaron Wayne Blalock and wife Christie of Miami, OK, Jeffery Collins Blalock of Miami, OK, and Robert Edward Blalock and wife Susan of Miami, OK. One sister Joyce Elaine Proctor and husband David of Okmulgee, OK. Nine grandchildren also survive him.

Graveside Services will be held 9:00am Sunday January 20, 2013 at Stafford – Shapp Cemetery east of Quapaw, Oklahoma with Rev. Geoff Buffalo officiating and John David Ballard will conduct Native American Rites.

Pallbearers will be Randy Darr, Dusten Edens, Joe Turner, Devin Turner, Skip Blalock and Larry Cherry. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bub Neal.

Jim will lie in state at his home until time of service.
