Dewey Michael Alt, age 89 of Maysville, WV, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 98 Deer Hunter Road, Petersburg, WV. He was born in Pansy, WV on August 13, 1923, the son of the late, Dewey Michael Alt, Sr. and Dessie Virginia (Kimble) Alt. He married Lois C. (May) Alt on July 3, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2007.

Mr. Alt attended Pendleton and Grant County Schools. He was a member of the Maysville United Methodist Church, a member of the Maysville Volunteer Fire Co. and served on the Board of Directors for Southern States. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army which he served from 1942-1945 and later enlisted into the United States Air Force from 1950-1951 and a member of the VFW Post 6454. Dewey was Owner and Operator of Alt's Garage where he retired in 1986. Mr. Alt was also a New Holland Dealer and farmer.

Mr. Alt is survived by; a step-son, Jack Finniff and wife, Joy, of Hagerstown, MD; a special friend, Marvin Thorne; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 4 nieces, Martha Garton, Donna Protasi, Lois Reed and Janet King; 1 nephew, Tom Tarett and cousins Paul and Mernie Kimble who was his caretakers for the past 7 years.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Alt is preceded in death by; 1 infant son; 1 brother, George Titus Alt and 1 sister, Anna Lee Southers.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Pastor Carroll Junkins will officiate funeral services on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Interment will follow at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, WV with Military Graveside Services by the Combined Veterans Organization of Grant County. Memorials may be made to the Burlington Children's Home, Burlington, WV. Memories and words of comfort may be left to www.basagic.com.
