Hiram A. Marks, 77, Carlisle R.1, died Sunday in the Carlisle Hospital.
Mr. Marks was born on Oct. 5, 1884, at Heidlersburg, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram W. Marks, and lived in Cumberland County for the last 20 years. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Church of the Open Door.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Glass Marks, to whom he had been married for 56 years; two sons, George A Marks Sr., and Charles E Marks, both of Carlisle R.1; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Bitting, Shippensburg R.1, and Mrs. Dorothy Burgess, Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Jesse R. and Harvey R. Marks, both of Dillsburg R.1, and Charles H. Marks, Hanover; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Dubbs, Spring Grove; Mrs. Myrtle Trimmer, York, and Mrs. Joseph Kachett, Pittsburgh; 27 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, with H.W. Hair, pastor of the Church of the Open Door, officiating. Burial will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens. Friends may call this evening at the funeral home.
