(WOODLAND) Funeral services for Myrtle Allen Freeman, 83, of Woodland were Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Highway Congregational Methodist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Jeton and Leonard Knight officiating. Burial was at Potash Cemetery.

Mrs. Freeman died Thursday, Feb. 12, at Roanoke Healthcare Center following a long period of declining health.

She was born May 2, 1914, in Cleburne County, daughter of Otis and Vassie Smith Allen. She had worked as an inspector in cotton mills. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Delma Kilgore, Vera Richardson and Eula Kaylor, and one brother, Clifton Allen.

Survivors include four sisters, Velma Blanks of Carrollton, Ga., Avel Spears of Roanoke, Bobbie Baughn of Bowden, Ga., and Syvle Ledbetter of Ranburne; one brother, Simeon Allen of Heflin; and eight step-children.

Pallbearers were Gary Spears, Wayne Ledbetter, Jack Ledbetter, Barry Baughn, Clarence Baughn and Charles Ray Baughn.

Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee was in charge of arrangements.
