Buchanan --- John Koch, 78, died at 8:45 o'clock last night at the home of his son-in-law, John Hittle, 503 Berrien street. He had been in ill health for seven years.
Mr. Koch was born November 18, 1878, the son of Adam and Matilda Koch, in Indiana. He married Clarah Smith on March 16, 1898, and came to Buchanan 17 years ago. Mr. Koch was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving are a son, William, of South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen Blilmans, Akron, Panama Canal Zone and Mrs. Fred Reinke of Buchanan.
Funeral services will be at the L.O. Swen funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Thomas Rice officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Note: Although the obituary states birth year of 1878, I believe it was really 1858 as indicated from the census records. This date would also coincide with his age at death. I then also believe the marriage year was 1878 rather than 1898.
