Of San Rafael, died peacefully on March 18, 2002 at the age of 56. Mary was born on April 1, 1945 in Santa Barbara, California, and grew up in Oxnard where she graduated from Santa Clara High School. After graduation, Mary moved to Northern California to attend Dominican College, where she graduated and earned her teaching credentials. Mary taught as an elementary school teacher for the Dixie School District. After leaving her teaching career in 1977, Mary began her second career with CSAA (AAA) Insurance where she was instrumental in developing a Claims Training Department that remains unsurpassed within the insurance industry. After her retirement in 1998, Mary volunteered her time as an animal advocate for All Creatures in San Rafael.
Mary is survived by her mother, Mary N. Tash of Oxnard, her very dear friend, Billie Carroll of Ukiah, her "adopted" family of Mark and Dorothy Bye and their daughters of San Anselmo, and her beloved dog, Bailey.
Arrangements were handled by the Neptune Society. At Mary's request, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Avenue, Corte Madera, CA., 94925-1133, or to a favorite charity.
