Sarah Ann (Davenport) Wight was the daughter of Thomas Clapp Davenport, Sr., and Sarah (Bridgman) Davenport. She had one brother, Thomas Clapp Davenport, Jr. In 1838, Sarah married Warner Whiting Wight, son of Willard and Polly (Avery) Wight, of Norwich, Mass. They had one child, a son named Myron Whiting Wight, who was born on December 6, 1840. Sadly, Sarah's husband died in 1841, leaving Sarah a widow at age 23. She never remarried. For many years, Sarah and her son Myron made their home with Sarah's mother and brother near the center of Westhampton. Tragedy struck again when Sarah's son Myron died in 1858, at the age of seventeen. Sarah lived on with her brother and mother until their deaths in 1881. After that she lived with various relatives in town and saw her final years at the Old Ladies' Home in Northampton. She died at age 73, after having lived as a widow for over fifty years.
