"Rex M. Hight, longtime resident of Pomerene, Ariz., entered eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013.
Rex was born attended by a country doctor on a leased farm near Etna Green, Kosciousko County, Ind. on Nov. 3, 1916, to Fred and Mary (Reprogle) Hight.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie D. Hight, his son, Dwight Eugene Hight, his parents, older brother, Wayne Hight and younger sister, Doris Wise.
Rex trusted Christ as his Savior when he was 16 years old. He responded to the invitation on a Sunday morning at the Brethren Church in South Bend, Ind., and asked Jesus to be his Savior. He was one of the founding members of Calvary Baptist Church, Benson, Ariz., and was a faithful member until he moved to Mountain View Gardens Retirement Home in Sierra Vista after the death of his wife in 2010.
He is lovingly survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Sue Ellen (Michael) Riley of Sugarloaf, Colo.; Kathleene Rae (Larry) Pondoff of Benson, Ariz.; and Dianne Beth (Bill) Konkle of Benson, Ariz. His legacy also includes nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Rex was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors, which is why he loved to read stories by Louis L'Amour, his favorite author. His favorite hymn was "When They Ring the Golden Bells," and his favorite scripture was John 3:16. He was a hard worker who provided for his family throughout his life, and leaves them with a strong work ethic.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 2300 W. Calvary Lane in Benson, Ariz. Interment will follow at Pomerene Cemetery."
