NORMAL — Robert "Bob" Becker, 96, Normal, passed away at 7 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 12, 2013) at Heritage Manor, Normal.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Kurt Flora officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the memorial home. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sibley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sibley Lutheran Church.
Bob was born May 30, 1916, in Sibley, son of William John and Jessie F. Clark Becker. He married Bernadine Taylor on Aug. 31, 1940, in Anchor. She preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Richard A. (Bernadine) Becker, Minooka; five grandchildren, Kim (Wayne) George and Shelly (Aaron) Hall, both of Arkansas; Denise (Mike) Millsaps, Minooka; Debi (Don) Duggins, Morris; and William Schroeder, Ellensburg, Wash.; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bernadine, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Douglas and Keith Becker; one grandson, Allen Becker; one granddaughter, Lynne Collins; three brothers; and one sister.
He graduated from Sibley High School.
Bob was a farmer in his early years, then retired from U High around 1991 after 31 years of service.
He was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed wood working, his flower garden and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Bob was a former member of Sibley United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge 745 in Bloomington.
