Daughter of William Henry Ramsbottom and Mary Sykes, Sarah met and married William Edward Ashworth on 16 July 1854 in Oldham, Lancashire, England. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1849. Sarah Elizabeth Ashorth, her husband , and their daughter Mary Jane Ashworth Lund migrated from England to the United States in 1861. They then traveled on to Utah to live with the Saints in Zion. At the time of her death, Sarah Ashworth was living with her youngest daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Ashworth Sears and her family in Salt Lake City.
