Albert Joseph Chavez, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend departed from us on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Albert was born to Henry and Donna Chavez on November 20, 1974. He was born in Salt Lake City and was raised in Tooele.
For the past several years Albert has been working for Staker Parson Companies at their Salt Lake facility as a foreman.
Albert greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a great cook with his specialty being BBQ steak and ribs. Albert's hobbies included hunting for arrowheads in the western desert, fishing, hiking, and shooting his bow. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed working on vehicles or anything that needed fixing. If ever there was a friend in need Albert would be there for that friend.
Albert was a member of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone. He participated in many Native American ceremonies. He is a Sundancer. Albert was a native artist. He beaded and made fans. He drew native designs for family members. Albert was knowledgeable about his native beliefs. He gathered medicines herbs and native foods.
Albert was preceded in death by his grandparents: Clifton Oppenhein; Lillian and Richard Bear; and Alberto and Pablita Chavez.
Albert is survived by his parents Enrique (Henry) and Donna Chavez; his children Kiana Vance (Battle Mountain, Nevada), Izzic and Victor Chavez (both of Tooele); his fiancé Valene Walcando; his siblings: Anna Didrickson, Frank Chavez, Evelyn (Jeff) Jones, Danny (Arlene) Chavez, Raymond Chavez, Doreen (Herbert) Cardenas, Eva Marie Valdez, Lillian Miller (Ronnie Garcia), and Mark (Melody) Chavez; Along with many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
A viewing service will be held for Albert on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary - 110 S. Main Street, Tooele.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Tate Mortuary - 110 S. Main Street, Tooele. A short viewing will proceed the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and the service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Interment and a traditional Native American prayer will be held at Tooele City Cemetery following the memorial service.
Albert, we will forever cherish every moment of your time here with us and we will miss you dearly.
