Levi was born in Iowa, most likely at his parents' home in Soap Creek township in Davis county. His mother was Emeline Wright Gibson Dickeson, the second wife of his father Felix. They were married in Davis county on the 12th of September, 1852. His mother Emeline died in 1864, and his father married Lucy House. In 1870 the family was still living in Soap Creek. Lucy died in 1872, and Felix married again in 1873. His son James (21792055), Levi's half brother, married that same year and then moved to Chase county, Kansas.

Sometime before 1880 Levi moved in with them in Kansas, and was working as a music teacher. He met Drusilla Morehead, who moved to Kansas after 1880. They were married in 1883 or 1884 and evidently moved from Kansas before the 1885 census.

According to the Chicago city directories for 1889 through 1898, Levi was living and working in Chicago as a piano tuner. The 1900 U.S. census shows they had moved to Los Angeles, where Levi was again working as a piano tuner.

According to census records and voter registrations, they lived there the rest of their lives in Los Angeles, Levi working as a piano tuner. There is no record of any children. Levi died in 1938.
