Alfred Henry Beck, 81, Kansas City North, passed away July 29, 2007 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday August 1st at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, entombment in Resurrection Cemetery North. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Church where a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Alfred was born January 10, 1926 and raised on a farm near St. Elizabeth, MO. He appreciated the importance of farm life & would often return to spend time with family and friends. He had lived in Kansas City since 1965 & previously lived in the St. Louis area. Alfred was an engineer who dedicated his career to public service. He served as Director of Streets in St. Louis & retired after 19 years as the Director of Operations for the Public Works Department in Kansas City. He was the architect for Kansas City's Solid Waste Management System. Alfred was a navy veteran of World War II & was an avid outdoorsman enjoying many years of hunting & fishing. Alfred was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph & Elizabeth (Adrian) Beck & daughter, Mary Briley. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Eleanor R. Beck of the home; 7 children, Judy & husband, Gary Lewis, Alfred Joseph Beck, Rick & wife, Katy Beck, Pat & husband, Bob Vanderford, Bob & wife, Alison Beck, Lori & husband, Kevin Gibler & Gary & wife, Barbara Beck; sister & brothers, Pauline Huhman, Leonard & wife, Louise Beck, Ted Beck, Raymond & wife Delilah Beck & Norbert & wife, Norma Beck; 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren & numerous nieces & nephews.
