Doris grew up and attended school in Douglas County and was united in marriage to Earl Fleetwood on November 15, 1955 in Buckhart, Missouri. Nine children were born to this union. The family moved to New Bavaria, Ohio. They raised their family there and retired and then returned to Douglas County in 1993.
Doris enjoyed nature and being outdoors. She spent many hours feeding, watching and enjoying her chickens, turkeys, hummingbirds, squirrels and deer. She also enjoyed her flower gardens and collecting antiques. Especially old dishes and coffee cups.
Her life was centered around her family. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Earl Fleetwood on February 4, 2011; three sons-in-law: Archie Burns, Nick Contreras, and Thomas Spence; four brothers: Clabe Fleetwood, Walter Riley, Dewitt Riley and Paul Riley; and by three sisters: Jessie Wilson, Opal Riley and Dorothy Riley.
She is survived by five sons: John Fleetwood and his wife, Bonnie, of Holgate, Ohio, Joe Fleetwood of Osage Beach, Missouri, Lonnie Fleetwood and his wife, Jessica, of Defiance, Ohio, Jim Fleetwood and his wife, Rhonda, of Sparta, Missouri, and Randy Fleetwood of Thayer, Missouri; four daughters; Eva Peabody and her husband, Darrell of Sherwood, Ohio, Lola Mathieu and her husband, John, of Willow Springs, Missouri, Lila Spence of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Tammy Moody and her husband, Steve, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two brothers: Leon Riley and his wife, Carolee of Basehor, Kansas, and Carol "Bud" Riley and his wife, Mollie, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one sister: Elsie McIntosh of Drury, Missouri; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
