She became the resident teacher for the island of Tjörnekälv, Rönnang (Sweden) in 1896, and continued teaching there until she immigrated to the United States in 1905. She married John (Johansson) Holter and they lived in Portland, Connecticut for the rest of their lives. She became the mother of three children: Alban and Herbert Holter and Hulda Holter Finkelstein.
