Family Reunion and Birthday Dinner.

On Saturday a number of relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Knight to celebrate the anniversary of Mrs. Knight’s birthday. She is a very thoughtful and loveable hostess. Her children, grandchildren, brothers and (sisters) were there. She received many nice presents and seemed especially pleased with the one that came from her sister, who is in Texas.
Mr. Ben Knight, who has been an invalid for quite awhile, said it did him good to see so many pleasant folks, and he believed that he was going to get better.
Most of the crowd were those who have known and loved each other all their lives.
There were some pretty girls from Rock Springs neighborhood, a bachelor of nice appearance from Sandy Ridge, Mr. and Mrs. Lunceford and children of Milltown, Mr. Walter Knight and daughter of South Alabama, and Mr. John Edge of Birmingham. Everyone was in love with the two visitors from Salem. Mrs. Rose Truett is a sister of Mrs. Knight and Mr. Tope Ambrose is her cousin.
Mrs. Andrew Still and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Knight made good music for us occasionally throughout the day.
The dinner was a success in every way. The table was under a large oak tree, and there was everything good to eat that anyone could wish for. A jar of growing flowers on each end of the table and a bowl filled with cut flowers in the center, added all that was needed to make the dinner perfect. Nearby there was a large stand filled with jars of blooming plants. The most noticeable colors were red, white and blue.
I heard one of the daughters say that the 26th of August was the happiest day of the year for her. I am sure that everyone present that day echoed her words.
The beautiful grove in front of the house is an ideal place for a day of happiness.
