Douglas Arden Baker, Sr., age 89, of Hamilton, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born in Mahomet, Texas on August 1, 1923 to Link and Nellie (Clark) Baker and was the fourth child out of five. Doug proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during World War II, before he married the love of his life, Helen Isbell on February 7, 1946, in Florence, Texas. Doug worked in Lampasas, Texas before going to work on Fort Hood for 30 years. After his first retirement from Fort Hood, he and Helen bought Florence Hardware which the two of them ran for 16 years. Then, Doug retired for a second time before jumping back into the workforce with Isbell Construction.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Helen Isbell Baker; sisters: Emily Fry, Stella Allen and Dorothy Ganaway; brother, Sam Baker; and granddaughter-in-law, Misty Harrell.

To cherish his memory, Doug leaves behind his son, Douglas Baker Jr. and wife Elaine of Hamilton, Texas; daughter, Traci Harrell of Florence, Texas; grandchildren: Angie Christinson and husband Greg of Weir, Texas, Cindy Altom and husband Kenneth of LaGrange, Texas, Sesh Harrell of Salado, Texas; Angel Slager and husband J of Atsugi, Japan, Kati Harrell of Florence, Texas, Mika Harrell of Hutto, Texas and Sonny Dixon of Hamilton, Texas; as well as 11 great grandchildren.

Interment will follow at the Florence City Cemetery, in Florence, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers includes: Eddie Isbell, Allan Isbell, Randy Isbell, Brian Burson, Ronnie Knight and Tommy Kanetzky.
