Carlton Smith, 82, of Belton, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, in Belton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Dr. Ramiro Pena officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Dossman Funeral Home.

Carlton was born in Bell County, Texas, to the late Arthur P. Smith and Minnie May (Bishop) Smith. He married Lela Beth Smith on May 17, 1963. In 2004, he married Mildred Adell (House) Smith. Carlton has lived in the area his whole life and worked as a painter. He enjoyed spending his time playing dominos at the VFW and loved to tell stories.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Lela Beth Smith in 1998; brothers, John, Arthur, and Pid Smith; and sisters, Mary Moore, Dorothy Guthrie, and Clara Smith.

Survivors include his second wife, Mildred Smith; son, Ronald Marshall Jackson; daughter, Carla Wohlfort; grandchildren, David Jackson, Traci Jackson, April Shepherd, Jason Jackson, Wil Jackson, T.J. Waldburger, Allyson Waldburger; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Petty; other relatives and many friends.
