Esther Kuhr, 88

Esther Kuhr, 88, died on Dec. 11, 1988 at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.

She was born in rural Seward County on March 22, 1900, to Dema Svendsen Sorensen and and Peter Christian Sorensen. In 1910 the family moved to Blair where she finished her schooling and attended Dana College.

On May 24, 1922, she married Martin O. Kuhr. The couple had eight children.

Esther, in previous years, had been active in the First Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the 8 and 40. More recently, she had been sewing quilt blocks together for the Love Day Ladies of the Church and put together well over 100 quilt tops. This she did in her home and spent many hours at her sewing machine.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, a son which died in infancy and son, Kenneth.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. H.C. (Eunice) Linnenkohl; sons, Martin Jr., Melvin, Donald and Richard, all of Blair and Leon of Lakewood, Co.; 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grand-children; one sister, Mrs. Kelley (Eleanora) Burroughs of Golden, Co.; and a niece Ebba Rasmussen of Blair and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at the First Lutheran Church today, Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jon Linnenhohl, Tim Kuhr, Mark Kuhr, Raymond Rasmussen, Milton Sorensen and Craig Montayne.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Campbell Funeral Home in Blair and burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

The family requests that any memorials go to the First Lutheran Church, the Blair Volunteer Fire Department or the Blair Rescue Squad.
