Mrs. Ida Chandler Noble (1865-1947) was a very talented artist. She served the Nashville Bible school as "Director of the Art School." She was born at Beach Grove in Rutherford County, Tennessee but at age two moved to Texas. Her father, Marshall Marion Chandler (1838-1922), died in Greenville, Texas where he served as a doctor. The Nobles moved to Nashville so her husband could attend law school at Vanderbilt. Mrs. Noble was graduated from Peabody College after studying art. Mrs. Noble also studied art in Chicago and New York. She was a very talented painter whose work included portraits, historic Nashville sites and china decoration. She won many awards for her art. Her funeral was preached by S. H. Hall and she is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery (where David Lipscomb and E. G. Sewell are also buried).
