Fred and Mabel Rose
The Rose brothers Fred, Jack, Essly, Norman and Bill came to the Swan River Valley in the 1890s. Fred finally gave up homesteading and went to work on the CN Railway. Fred Rose married Mabel Rowe in early 1900's and they had eight children-George, Lula, Gordon, John, Bill, Laura, Mary and a baby who died at birth.
Fred's family moved from Minitonas around 1916 to Swan River and in the 20's he built a house in town then sold it. He went back to farming which he did until his death in 1941.
