SGT. MAJ. RUSSELL "RUSTY" A. ROCKWELL, 71, of Cascade, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at his home.
Born March 13, 1935, in Little Marsh, Pa., he was the son of the late Nathan Allen and Loetta Newman Rockwell.
He work in the civilian sector for years.
He was a retired sergeant major in the U.S. Marine Corps, having served from March 23, 1953, to Sept. 30, 1975.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary June Wheaton Rockwell; his children, Russell Rockwell of Cascade, Suanne Voltz of Orlando, Fla., Brian Rockwell of Sabillasville, Md., and Tracy Murray of Fairfield, Pa.; three sisters, Virginia Jeffers and Mrs. Charles Space, both of Addison, N.Y., and Pearl Wright of Middlebury Center, Pa.; one brother, Leon Rockwell of Tioga, Pa.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson.
Services with full military honors will be Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, Thurmont, Md. The Rev. Harry Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd., Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057.
