Guy Duane Medaris, Jr., 96, of Bement, passed away at 11:15 p.m., on January 12, 2013 at the Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville.

Duane was born on November 6, 1916 in Bement the son of Guy Duane and Jean (Davies) Medaris, Sr. He married Martha Louise Loomis on March 9, 1941 in Bement. She passed away on November 22, 2006.

Surviving is his daughter, Mary Hendrix of Shelbyville, sons, Eddie Medaris of Sindey, Ronnie Medaris of Decatur, and Michael Medaris of Jones Creek, Texas; a brother, Robert Medaris of Monticello; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 4 brothers. Duane was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Bement United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, Board of Directors for Piatt County F.S, and the Piatt County Farm Bureau.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Bement United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the Bement United Methodist Church.

Interment will be in the Bement Township Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Bement United Methodist Church or Baby Fold 108 E. William St. Normal, IL 61761.
