Services for Archie D. Baker, 78, of Clovis will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Parkland Baptist Church. Rev. Doug Brooks, Rev. Herbert Bergstrom and Rev. Benjamin Bedford will officiate. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memmorial Gardens Cemetery.
Steed-Todd Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. Baker died early Saturday morning at Plains Regional Medical Center-Clovis. He was born May 18, 1918 at Lindsey, Okla., the ninth child of Richard and Alvia LaCount Baker. He married Mildred Thomas Dec. 22, 1940.
Mr. Baker was a long time resident and farmer in Curry County and an active member at Parkland Baptist Church. He served on the board of directors of the Soil and Water Conservation District for a number of years and was a charter member of Farmers Union in Curry County.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Keith Blair of Alba, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sharon Baker of Clovis; a son, Dennis Baker of Clovis; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julia Mantooth of Lindsay, Okla. and Etta Mitchell of Clovis; and one brother, Ray Baker of Clovis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, J. A. Baker, L.C. Baker, L. G. Baker; and sisters Edith Walch and Essie Beach.
Casket bearers will be Cliff Brandon, Joe Sealey, Cal Jordan, Tim Tidenberg, Carl Hahn, Randy Harris, H.D. Bud Bennett, and Maury May. Honorary bearers will be Lee Merrill, Weldon Bauske, Eddie Munoz, Warren Thompson, Ruddie Idleman, B. P. Davis, all co-pilots and all friends.
Memorials may be made to Parkland Baptist Church Building Fund or Plains Regional Hospice, 1600 W. 21st. St. Clovis, NM 88101.
