Ruth Evelyn Mason, 87, formerly of the Anderson and Neosho area, passed away at her daughter's home in Springfield, Mo., on Jan. 20, 2005.

Mrs. Mason was born February 10, 1917, to Roy E. Sellers and Artie (Rogers) Sellers Peck in Anderson, Mo., where she met and married Roy H. Mason, her husband of 59 years. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1996, along with her half brother, Charles R. Peck and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana R. Virden and husband, Ed of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Mickey D. Mason and wife, Laurel of Nevada, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her role as a homemaker and especially enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. She was kind and generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor that she kept even through the worst of times. She accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and Savior at the age of 12 and that faith sustained her throughout her life.

She and her husband, Roy, were always ready to lend a helping hand and in their later years ministered to the sick and home-bound as part of their lifelong commitment to the Lord. At the time of her death she was still a member of the High Street Christian Church in Neosho, Mo. She was a special lady who brought joy to all who came to know her and will be deeply missed

Services were held at the Clark Funeral Home, 312 S. Wood, in Neosho, Mo., on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005. Visitation commenced at 1 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2 p.m.

Interment was at the Memorial Park Cemetery south of Neosho. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Community Hospices of America. The family would like to take this opportunity to extend its appreciation to Community Hospices of Springfield and her private care givers for their excellent care and compassion during Ruth's illness.

OBIT thanks to Marilyn
