The census of 1860 was the last census in which John and Minnie Gore appeared. At that time they were living at Shallotte Point near their daughter Rachael Gore Register Jones and grandsons John & Reed Register. Neighbors included William McKenzie, merchant, John Charlotte, sail maker, Daniel Williams, Aaron S. White and others. The only community cemeteries at Shallotte Point are the Gurganus and the Davis Register. All but a few graves at the Gurganus have been identified. There are many unmarked graves at the Davis Register. A memorial marker for their son John, who died in the Civil War, was placed at the Davis Register. The cemetery contains the graves of several grandchildren and is also believed to be the burial location of their daughter Rachael. If anyone knows the exact burial location of John & Minnie please share it with us.
