Daniel F. "Sonny" Elliott, 79, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Tuesday, January 8 2013, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Christian Fellowship Church. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home. A formal burial will take place in April.

Sonny was born March 20, 1933, in Great Falls to James Elliott and Marguerite Powell. He was one of eleven children. Sonny was a Korean War veteran who served in the United States Navy and Army.

He married Norma Sangrey in 1977 and together raised eleven children. They were married 35 years. Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was a two-time champion golden glove boxer, two-time AAU champion who went to the nationals twice, avid fisherman, hunter, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Braves fan. He enjoyed participating in the countless family and community events.

Survivors include his stepdaughters, Sandra (Larry) McWilliams, Diane Cummins, Susie Olson, and Jean (Martie) Harvie all of Great Falls, Carol Franco of Helena, Paula Wolfe of Heath, Ohio; stepsons Carl Sangrey Jr., Jerry (Lynn) Sangrey, and Aaron (Christa) Liscum all of Great Falls, Scott (Kristi) Sangrey of Missoula; sister June Elliott of Great Falls; brothers Carl Elliott of San Diego, CA and Thomas Elliott of Midfield, AL.; 30 grandchildren, and 51 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Elliott; brothers Kenneth Elliott, Bob Elliott, Edward Elliott, and Gene Elliott; sisters Marguerite Williams, Ethelmae Robbins, and Gertrude Orr; and parents James and Marguerite Elliott.
