Phyllis was born January 16, 1918 at Wyaconda, MO, a daughter of John and Virgie Pash Desvaux.

She graduated from Wyaconda High School in 1935 and attended Knox College at Galesburg, IL.

On October 18, 1936, she was united in marriage to Dr. B. F. Hutchinson in Kirksville. He preceded her in death in January of 1968.

Survivors include a son, Kenner L. (Lynn) Hutchinson of Quincy, IL; a daughter, Kay (Mrs. William) Morgan of Keokuk, IA; six grandchildren: John (Tamara) Hutchinson of Taos, NM, Bob (Dorothy) Hutchinson of Dublin, CA, Mike (Alyssa) Hutchinson of Albuquerque, NM, Aimee Hutchinson of Madison, WI, Matt Morgan of Denver, CO, and Suzanne Morgan of Tucson, AZ; three great-grandchildren, Drew Hutchinson of Muskogee, OK and Jacob and Isabella Dennis of Tucson, AZ; nieces and nephews: Elizabeth Jackson, Marthlu Davitt, Dr. Nancy (Mrs. Paul) Hutchinson-Williams, Martha (Mrs. Ed) Stiles, Tom (Barbara) Hutchinson and David (Judy) Desvaux; two cousins, Marilyn Holloway Horton and Sara Beth Pash (Mrs. Darrell) Fouch; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Kevin Hutchinson; and a brother, Sanford Desvaux.

Phyllis assisted her husband in all areas of his Doctor's office in Wyaconda, including patient care, bookkeeping and office manager. Following his death she worked in the same capacity at Buenger Clinic in Memphis for a period of time. Her love and concern for others carried over in the community where she helped by providing transportation to doctor appointments, grocery stores, or where the need might be. She enjoyed receiving the honor of being Grand Marshall of the Old Settler's Parade.

She was a life-long member of the Wyaconda Christian Church, organist for many years and member of the C.W.F. Other memberships included Chapter AW, P.E.O., Kahoka Chapter # 40, O.E.S. serving as organist for many years and past matron, and the Wyaconda Red Hatters. She loved the fellowship with her friends in these organizations and cherished each and every one of them.

Phyllis enjoyed a very rich and fulfilled life. She wintered several years in Santa Fe with her son, Kenner, and enriched her life with the new friends and the cultural diversity surrounding Santa Fe. It was during this time that she learned to swim and enjoyed hiking. She looked forward to each day for the good and lessons she might find in it.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wyaconda Christian Church with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating assisted by Rev. David Turner and Pastor Sandy Browning.
