Hiram Wilder, one of the oldest residents of Western Crawford, died at his home in Spring township, just north of Conneautville, on Friday, aged 93 years.He was blessed with rugged health until about four years ago, when he suffered a light stroke of paralysis, since which time he has gradually failed till his death. Deceased was born in Genesee county, New York, Oct.22, 1811, and came with his parents to Kingsville, Ohio, in his boyhood. The family later moved to Conneaut, Ohio, where in 1837 he was married to Jane Doty. In 1842 he moved with his family to Western Crawford, first settling in Conneaut township where he lived for many years, and then moving to Spring township. Mrs. Wilder died in 1882 and he later married Mrs. Hattie Orr, who with three children from his first wife, Mrs. Emma Viets, of Beloit,Wisconsin, Mrs. Mary L. Brown, of Clark’s Corners, Ohio, and Ordell H. Wilder of Spring, survive him. One brother,, Riley Wilder, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, remains of his father’s family. He was a man of the strictest honesty, generous, kind and joyful, with many friends and no enemies. The funeral was held at the home on Monday, his pastor, Rev. H.H. Clare, officiating, and internment in Conneautville cemetery.
