A much later article in the Greensboro Record (NC), dated July 20, 1939, reads:

He has visited England and Africa and traveled extensively in the United States. His wife formerly Anna H. Worth, is accompanying him on his trip.

- She is the daughter of a former treasurer of the state of North Carolina, William Worth.

- The week of August 14 to 21 he will be in services with his son, Rev. Samuel E. Smith, formerly of Greensboro, who is now assisting in the pastoral work of two churches near hemp; Pleasant View Friends church and Rock Hill Friends church.

- Rev. Mr. Smith and wife are also visiting with a son, Elim H. Smith, of Greensboro, and with Charles D. Roberts.
