Dylan Michael Youngblood, 6, of Edneyville returned to the arms of God on Thursday, April 1, 2004, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

He was born March 31, 1998, to Michael "Mike" Lee Youngblood and Loretta Jean "Jenny" Cairnes Youngbood of Edneyville.

He was a kindergarten student in Ashley Oliver's class at Edneyville Elementary School. He loved playing with his younger sister, riding four-wheelers, collecting Scooby Doos and enjoying Playstation. He delighted in spending time with his Pa-Paw and Ma-Maw and Paw-Paw and Grandma. One of his greatest joys was playing outside, working on cars with his Daddy and helping his Mommy with housekeeping chores.

He will be missed immensely by the many who loved and knew him.

In addition to his parents, he will be missed by his sister, MiKayla of the home; maternal grandparents, Jack and Josephine Cairnes of Mills River; paternal grandparents, Gary and Patti Youngblood of Fletcher; paternal great-grandparents, Roy L. and Dorothy Morris of Waterford, Mich.; special aunts and uncles, Keri and Kelly Jenkins and Kenneth and Lori Cairnes; and cousins, Megan, Justin and Nathan Rhodes and Austin and Garrett Cairnes.

The family extends a special thank you to Drs. Orren Beaty and Krystal Bottom, Mission Childrens Hospital staff, Friends of Santa Claus, Harvest Time Assembly of God, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dr. Janet Bull, Sylvia, Joanie and the staff of Four Seasons Hospice and Pallative Care, special family friends and members of the community who were so supportive of Dylan and his family.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Dr. Ron Fousek and Pastor Darryl McClaren will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Shuler Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Dylan Youngblood Fund, in care of First Citizens Bank, P.O.
