Howard A. Witmer, RD6, died last evening in the Carlisle Hospital. He was 78 years old.

Born on July 17, 1886, he was a son of the late Daniel M. and Clara Babble Witmer. A retired farmer, he had been engaged in farming in South Middleton Township for 45 years. He was a member of the Otterbein Evangelical United Brethren Church, Boiling Springs. Mr. Witmer and his wife, Mrs. Mabel Livingston Witmer, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last December.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard W. Boldosser, MR1; two sons, Harold W., RD2, Mechanicsburg; Creedin L., RD1, Mechanicsburg; one brother, Kenneth, RD6; two sisters, Mrs. Allen Brehm, Carlisle, and Mrs. Frank Barr, Buffalo, N.Y.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Hoffman Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover Street, with the Rev. Richard D. Leonard and the Rev. John H. Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday evening at the funeral home.
