NATIVE OF DRESDEN DIES IN DETROIT
Detroit, Oct. 12 – Mrs. John V. Moran, society leader and prominent in many large charity enterprises died at her home, 584 Jefferson avenue, Friday afternoon. She had been ill since Wednesday night with heart trouble.
Etheridge Moran, a son, is on the United States ship Nakomis, and Cyril, another son, is on the battleship Iowa. Due to the uncertainty of the movements of their boats and the long distance between Detroit and whatever port they might be able to make, if they could be reached, they are not expected to return for the funeral.
Mrs. Moran has been prominent in society circles and charitable organizations for many years. As Emma Etheridge, she spent her girlhood in Tennessee, having been born in Dresden, Tenn.
During the 37 years of her residence in Detroit her name has been connected with the work of the Providence and St. Mary’s hospital and the House of the Good Shepherd. She was also a member of Michigan Daughters of 1812, attending a meeting of that society last Wednesday.
Surviving are her husband and six children, three daughters, Mrs. Van Husen Moore, Mrs. A. T. Brodhead and Mrs. Chas. McClure, who are in Detroit, and two other daughters and one son are expected to arrive her Saturday. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
Lieut. Bell Moran, a son of the deceased, was in Dresden just a few days ago laying plans for the renovation of the old home place of his illustrious grandfather, the late Emmerson Etheridge.
