Samuel F. Bauman, son of Frederick and Margaret Bauman, was born at Highlands, Illinois, on September 27, 1883. He Attended school in that community and was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church. He came to Wright County, Iowa, at the age of 18 years, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was married to Hattie White, on December 11, 1904. A son and a daughter, both died at birth, were born to this couple. The Baumans farmed in the Clarion area for many years, retiring and moving to Galt in 1946, where they made their home until last year, when because of illness it was necessary for them to enter a Nursing Home. For the past four months Mr. and Mrs. Bauman have lived at Bel Chris Manor at Belmond where he died Wednesday morning. He is survived by his wife, Hattie, two brothers, George of Clarion and Otto of Vandalia, Illinois, three sisters, (Lizzie) Mrs. Albert Smith of Hagarstown, Illinois; (Emma) Mrs. C. A. Hefmeisyer of Charleston, South Carolina; (Anna) Mrs. Clarence Ritter of Vandalia, Illinois. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil and John. At his passing he had attained the age of 81 years and 7 months. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Eyler Funeral Home in Clarion with the Rev. Park Miller of Goodell officiating. Pall bearers were M. M. Potter, Ed Nelson, M. D. Schroder, Harry Soren, John Schutt and Earl Claude. Two selections were sung by Mrs. Larry Bobst and Mrs. Merle Poolman. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion.
