Mrs. Floyd was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Rufus Baker Owens and Anna White Owens. She is survived by one brother, Elbert D. Owens of Evergreen. She was a 1939 graduate of Florence High School. Ms. Merlee, as many called her, was a loving mother and grandmother. Because of her intense love for the Lord and the example that He set for us to follow, she devoted her life in service to others.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Fulton E. Hatchell, who died in 1986.
She was also predeceased by her second husband, Rev. Harry W. Floyd, who died in 2004.
